Becky Hammon - Head Coach, Las Vegas Aces

Here is our TOP perFORMer of September 2022

Becky Hammon went undrafted as a professional WNBA player and knows how to persevere in the face of criticism. Hammon’s stature was largely reported as the reason for her draft stock decline but it made no difference on her way to becoming a six-time all-star. Now as a head coach, she has made her presence felt once again.

The Las Vegas Aces won their first WNBA title in thrilling fashion after a closeout game on September 18, 2022. Head Coach Becky Hammon showed her expertise midway through the final quarter by switching to a smaller lineup against the daunting five placed on the court by the Connecticut Sun. With a final score of 78- 71, Hammon also became the first female head coach ever to win a title in their first WNBA season.

Hammond has plenty of coaching experience as she was formally hired as an assistant coach for the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs under coach Gregg Popovich in 2014. After eight years of successful coaching and not receiving a larger role in the NBA, Hammon ventured back into the WNBA.  Hammon’s coaching influence showed in her team’s WNBA title run; the after-timeout plays, guard-to-guard screens, and versatile use of players have showcased her brilliant basketball mind and now proven to the world again her true championship pedigree.

Top Form Psychology announces WNBA Coach of the Year and WNBA Champion Becky Hammon as our TOP perFORMer of the month.
